I am overjoyed by the multitude of people who took part in this week's challenge. And I couldn't be happier with Melissa's picks and her absolute dedication leaving thoughtful comments on each and every entry. When I thanked her for spending the time really looking at and writing about each photograph, this is what she had to say. "They truly made me smile. And I found it so interesting to look at them as just a viewer and not as part of the competition. I really enjoyed finding the beauty in each one. SO, I found it incredibly hard to narrow it down. I looked at them over and over again. I was really looking for the images that made me feel what the subject was feeling and also had "flaws" that were not flaws at all but just enhanced the images even more. I chose Charlene Hardy's image of the dancer as the spotlight artist. It was just incredibly beautiful to me. Such a simple portrait, but with so much emotion emanating from it. The movement, stunning black and white edit, slight blurs of the hands and feet, and the truly carefree feeling it evoked made this image and Charlene the spotlight artist for me. I just adore it." I fully agree with Melissa's characterization of Charlene's submission. I've followed her work for awhile and find that she uses simplicity to focus our attention on what's most important.
