This experience. . . what a JOY. Seriously, I smiled and smiled and smiled as I looked through the images added this week. I had an amazingly tough time narrowing it down to the eleven. I will admit, that you definitely nudged my "Perfectionistic" tendencies as I took in these marvelous, uninhibited, boundary-less, images. Seriously, thank you for the opportunity. -Summer Week of 3.19.14 through 3.25.14 Spotlight Artist and Top Ten Theme: "cheerful" Other Favorites Summer's style may be a bit perfectionist,
but that is one of the reasons I love having guest judges. Every artists has a unique perspective. I am proud that every week since this page began, we have featured such a wide variety of photographers. It's clear from her choices, Summer's perspective is just beautiful! Thank you so much Paige for asking to me to be a judge this week. I have always wanted be on the 'other side' of these challenges, but wow, is judging difficult! The word alone does not sit well with me since there is no judgement at all, it's simply finding a way to somehow whittle down SO MANY fantastic photos. I could have EASILY made a top 20. And if it wasn't difficult enough picking only 11, deciding on a feature image was even harder. The image I did select is from Jessica Thomason. I just kept coming back to this one. Her sweet and silly expression is captivating and you can't help but feel happy. Congratulations to everyone, I hope this group of images put a big smile on your face as they do mine. Xo, Sonja Week of 3.12.14 through 3.18.14 Spotlight Artist and Top Ten Theme: "silly faces" Other Favorites Sonja Hardy is just a genuinely nice person.
Add to that her enormous talent as a photography and well, she's just someone you want to know!! If you aren't familiar with her work, check it out and show her some love! Big thanks to Sonja for guest judging this week and choosing amazing images! <3 -Paige Bobo + Peep Photography web | facebook Week of 3.5.14 through 3.11.14 Spotlight Artist and Top Ten Theme: "rainbow" Other Favorites
First, I want to thank Paige for asking me to guest judge this week. She is the most inspiring, insightful person who always encourages others to be their best creative selves. I am a better artist because of her and am so grateful to know her. Okay, this was so hard for me. Fundamentally, I believe that everyone is a winner simply because they created something and took the brave and beautiful steps to make their art known to the world. So choosing only eleven made my heart heavy. I think many of the entries this week showed strong concepts and artistic merit far beyond traditional portraiture. Bravo everyone! The image I selected for the feature image is from Lesley-Anne Perry. It spoke to me on so many levels. The warm tones of the sunflare, the dizzying motion-blur, the double exposure and the story-telling strength of this image blew me away. I could really relate to it on all levels, as an artist, a woman and a mother. And, it was a selfie! That is not easy to do. Together the top 11 images should be in a fine art exhibit, they are all that strong. Congratulations to all. Xo, Juli Week of 2.26.14 through 3.4.14 Spotlight Artist and Top Ten Theme: "seeing double" Other Favorites What a pleasure to have Juli Isola with us this week! I always get the feeling that Juli doesn't understand just how truly talented she is. So I just want to go on record having said: you are sweet, humble, kind, beautiful and immensely talented Juli!
