I was so excited to be able to guest judge this week at Fantastically Flawed! I just really think this page/community Rocks! When Paige was going to start this page and had told me about it, I thought, what a truly amazing idea. So many people are afraid that their photos don't follow the rules. I personally am terrified of my images that are blurry and out of focus and this page has helped me to start embracing imperfections, realizing that they are in fact Fantastic. First I have to say it was such an honor and so much fun! I definitely love the "selfie". I think taking a picture of yourself now and again is not only great to have for your children, family and friends but most important for yourself. There is so much freedom with a self portrait, freedom to try new ideas, have fun and just be You. The entries this week BLEW my mind. I think we all inspire each other and I am definitely feeling inspired by all the wonderful work here this week. While I could only pick 11 photos, seriously, everyone's work was amazing and you should be Proud of yourself for tackling the some times dreaded "selfie". I hope you feel as inspired as I do to go out and try some more! I know a lot of people get scared of taking pictures of themselves so I am planning a blog post about tackling your fears that I will post to my page later this week. :) Ok now for the good stuff! Congrats to everyone, I found so many new fabulous photogs to follow this week! Thank you for having me, big puffy virtual hugs to everyone! "Thank you to everyone that submitted for the theme "Motion Blur" this week! I loved looking through all the posts and shares, and it absolutely reaffirmed my thoughts on the wonderful sense of community I feel amongst my fellow photographers - liking and complimenting...you all are the best! I was BLOWN away by your exceptional talent, and I really wish I could have picked a top 20 (or 50)! I look forward to seeing what you all have in store next week with the AMAZING Amanda Lee Monday, and her perfectly fitting "Selfie" theme! There were so many gorgeous submissions this week! You all made my job very hard. Honestly, every one of the “profile” images spoke to me in their own way – there was such beauty in each of the perfectly imperfect moments captured. Such amazing and unique talent in this group! Can’t wait to see what you all come up with next week for Suzie. <3 Nicki Week of 2.5.14 through 2.11.14 Spotlight Artist and Top Ten Theme: "profile" Other favorites Big thanks to the uber talented Nicki Bosch for guest judging this week!
I know how hard the job is because you love so many and want to choose them all. I think she did a wonderful job! Nicki Bosch Photography When I began this blog, I was scared. It was an idea so close to my heart, yet I was convinced no one would understand it. I remember telling a few close friends "What if I can't even get ten people to share their images to the page? You can't have a top ten with less than ten images." Little did I know how quickly and fully you all would embrace this idea. Now, as I struggle to narrow done the images from my favorite 30 or 40, ten just doesn't seem like enough. I hope, more than anything, that even when you are not featured, that you understand just how much each and every one of you are appreciated!
