“A poem begins with a lump in the throat; a homesickness or a love sickness. It is a reaching-out toward expression; an effort to find fulfillment." --Robert Frost " This art life, this photography life is not an easy one. There is something within us all that longs to express the deep rifting emotions of our heart -a wordless place buried within our soul that longs to be heard. Our work is exactly that "reaching-out toward expression", our artist's effort, the pieces of us that long to find fulfillment. Even though we as photographers, as artists, may not find contentment in our own work (the hunger that makes us long for fulfillment is the acceptance that we will never be filled, we will never be full) -we often can see hints of this fulfillment in the work of other photographers, in images that comes together to express that longing. In this, it was such a joy to go through the images this week. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to see all this incredible talent. All the images entered this week were gorgeous, flawed in that extra flawy goodness way and a true reflection of the quote -- it did not make for an easy job! But here they are in all their glory.
